New Web Site, Fresh New Look
American Women Artists invites you to visit our new web site, see our featured artists, and get to know our generous sponsors. Our goal as an organization is to broaden recognition for women artists through yearly juried competitions, member shows, museum exhibits and educational opportunities. We raise awareness about our mission and profile our member artists with a year-round social media and marketing campaign. All of the activities planned and presented by American Women Artists are the mission in action: the inspiration, celebration, and encouragement of women in the visual fine arts.
Signature Member Claudia Seymour
“My paintings are a personal expression of my lifelong fascination with the visual effects of color, as revealed by the play of light across an array of objects. My goal as a traditional representational painter is to attempt to portray the limitless beauty of color, not only in every object itself but also in the light-filled interaction between objects, their shadows and highlights, and the space in which they exist”.
Claudia Seymour is President of the historic Salmagundi Club in New York and a widely collected practicing artist. She is a Master Signature Member of the Pastel Society of America and has been awarded Master Circle status by the International Association of Pastel Societies. She is also an Associate Member of the Oil Painters of America.
Romona’s studio is tucked away in the lush Red Hills of Dundee Oregon, overlooking flourishing vineyards and breathtaking landscapes. Much of her inspiration comes from her surroundings-be it a weathered farmhouse, an ancient alder standing alone in resplendent autumn hues, or a muted meadow that pulls one’s thoughts to a conscious digression.
Self taught with nature as her classroom and the great masters her teachers, she knew at age four that painting would be her calling. Today you’ll find her paintings as far away as Germany, London and downtown Manhattan. Her works have been published in the premier art magazines including Southwest Art, American Art Collector and Art Talk.
|Visions of the Southwest, an AWA exhibition of work of Master Signature and Signature members will open Nov. 3, 2012 at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum in Tucson. There will be a paint out on the museum grounds Saturday morning with all members, Master, Signature, and Associate invited to participate.
We are pleased to announce our guest artists for the museum show: Nancy Bush, Jane De Decker, Gay Faulkenberry, Louisa McElwain, Joan Potter, Sherry Salari Sander, Linda Tippetts, and Star Liana York.
“To create one’s world in any of the arts takes courage.”
