Spotlight – Signature Member – Eva Stanley “I strive, in my work, to achieve not only realism, but also to relate a story of behavior and environment to the
viewer. It is my goal to both entertain and educate the public regarding the needs and struggles of wildlife in today’s world.” Growing up on the southern shore of Lake Michigan, Eva spent her childhood exploring the woodlands, marshes, and ponds of the Indiana Dunes. She also gives great credit to her mother for boldly taking her children camping each summer, across the U.S. and Canada. That early exposure to so many different types of habitats and wildlife, helped to further instill her love of nature and wild places. Ms. Stanley says, “It is terribly important to educate our people- especially the children- about the amazing variety and needs of the creatures and plants native to our own hemisphere. Wildlife art helps in that mission.” Eva Stanley is an award winning artist and sculptor whose work can be seen in National Juried Exhibitions and Museum shows across the nation. AWA is proud to have Eva as a Signature Member. See more at her website.E’s website. |
Spotlight – Signature Member – Laurel Daniel With a degree in studio art and 19 years in the graphic design business, Laurel Daniel paints full-time and teaches at the Austin Museum of Art. She is an avid plein air painter and says, “Plein air painting is a huge part of my process. It feeds, motivates, and is the source for studio work. It is an excuse to be outside, experiencing nature firsthand. The whole process is irresistible to me.”
“My lifelong love for nature inspires me to contemplate the landscape. As a plein air painter, I begin outside, working quickly to discern the shifting patterns of shadows and light. Back in the studio, I try to paint with the same closely-observed spontaneity. Capturing a moment in time is an impossible task, but for me, an endlessly compelling one.”
