Show forms, information on participating in the Booth show catalog, host hotel information, and advertising opportunities are all heading your way in early May. Make sure to check your inbox for all the details to participate in this historic exhibit opportunity.

On each participating artist’s page in the show catalog, along with images of artwork, we would love to include more dynamic shots of the artists either at work, or posing with their artwork, rather than just simple head shots.  Some excellent examples of promotional artists-at-work or artists with their work photos will be provided with the catalog information coming in early May.

Get ready for Prevailing Winds, and enjoy the opportunity to have your talent and accomplishments in the visual fine arts recognized in this showcase exhibit of American Women Artists at the Booth Western Art Museum.

Alden B. Dow
Museum of Science
AWA Signature member Kim Kori’s unique amphibian sculptures are part of the exhibit at the Alden B. Dow Museum in Midland, MI. The purpose of the show is to bring awareness to the dwindling populations of certain frog species.

The Alden B. Dow Museum of Science & Art’s mission is to bring the visual arts and sciences together to promote participation, appreciation, education and expression for both disciplines.

Kori, who works entirely in bronze, is known for using pigments, dyes and colorful patinas that add a contemporary twist to her sculpture. Although she sculpts a variety of things, frogs and toads are among her favorite subjects. In fact, the model for Kori’s piece for the upcoming 17th Annual Member Show and Juried Competition, “Because of the Rain” (featured on the exhibit program below), lives in a terrarium in her studio.

“All my work has a commonality about it – joy in nature,” self-taught sculptor Kori says, “people read a sense of fun and light-heartedness in it, I feel like that is my contribution to the world.”

Kori’s work will be exhibited, along with a number of talented artists’ representations of amphibians, at the museum through May 18, 2014 (dates extended).
