Bio:

Sunlit figures, both Western and otherwise, are Nancy’s favorite subjects, although she also enjoys plein air landscape painting and the occasional still life. She is especially inspired by color and pattern. Nancy has received two gold medals from the AWA, a bronze medal from OPA, and in 2018 won Best of Show at the American Impressionist Society. Her work is included in the books Texas Traditions and Brushstrokes and Balladeers, as well as in the permanent collection of the Booth Western Art Museum.

Artist's Statement:

Creating something that previously didn’t exist has always fascinated me; I love the magic of translating an idea into the reality of a completed painting. I use figure painting as a vehicle to explore compositions containing large simple shapes, interesting silhouettes, and strong contrasts of value and color.

Winning the Purchase Award has such enormous significance for me, it’s every artist’s dream to be in a museum and my work, Lee’s Ferry Landing, will be at the Tucson Desert Art Museum for as long as I live. I’m so thankful to the American Women Artists for that opportunity.”
