Artist's Statement:

Having a diverse range of subject matter has continued to be a goal of mine throughout my painting career. From still life to street scenes, interiors and landscape, each presents its own set of challenges and excitement. I’m drawn to the play of color, value and design in whatever inspires each subject. The natural world and landscape is by far the most exciting for me. Painting on location, within a time frame of light on the subject, creates a spontaneous and exhilarating experience that’s hard to capture any other way. The illusion of a time, place, and mood becomes the challenge.

Winning the Purchase Award has such enormous significance for me, it’s every artist’s dream to be in a museum and my work, Lee’s Ferry Landing, will be at the Tucson Desert Art Museum for as long as I live. I’m so thankful to the American Women Artists for that opportunity.”
