Last November, as we celebrated our 25th anniversary, your AWA Board of Directors set their sights on a lofty vision for the next quarter century: 25 in 25 – twenty five museum shows in as many years. Our goal is to make work by women both more valuable and more visible in the art world – and as the data shows us, that means museum shows.
Members are already voicing their excitement about these amazing exhibition opportunities:
“This is absolutely wonderful news!” Says Anne Watcher. “I am so proud to be a part of American Women Artists – so inspiring!”
According to Carolyn Lord,”there is a new way to spell awesome: AWA-some!”
“This is such a proud, positive, progressive time for all AWA members,” says Ava Cosey.
“What a fantastic goal and what a lot of work, I am excited to be a new member of AWA and will give your exhibits my best,” says Sheri Farabaugh.
The value of museum exposure and the impact it can have on an artist’s career cannot be underestimated and it’s where AWA can truly make a difference

“The fact that I have a painting in the permanent collection of the outstanding Booth Western Art Museum is a direct result from my participation in the AWA show there. American Women Artists opened the door for me; our Prevailing Winds exhibit was an incredible opportunity to show the museum what I could do,” says Master Signature Member Nancy Boren. “When I walked into the opening reception and heard the announcement that my painting, Aloft in the Western Sky, had been purchased by the museum, I thought I was dreaming! I wasn’t dreaming, but you could say my dreams did come true that night. I had the ability and the vision and AWA gave me the chance. Being part of a museum collection gives an artist validity and I have since been invited to participate in other art events connected with the Booth.”
