I am a current AWA member for 2016. How do I renew my membershp for 2017? Our membership year runs from January 1-December 31, but we begin our renewal process on November 1st of each year. During the first week of December, membership renewal notices for the following year are emailed out to all of our current Associate, Signature and Master Signature members. Each notice includes a clickable link that allows members to access their membership portal and invoice directly where they can choose to pay with their credit card or their PayPal account, or they can just send a check for renewal to:

If you do not receive the membership renewal notification in December, or need it re-sent to you, please email us to let us know, and we will resend.

After I register on the website, how do I go on to become an Associate member?
After you've completed your registration on the site, log back in and click on the Join/Renew tab and follow all directions through to our Paypal, where you can pay your dues with a credit card or paypal account. Make sure to click "return to American Women Artists" to complete your membership.

I'm having problems with the registration/login feature of the website - the site doesn't recognize my information, can you help?
The registration form currently in use on the website requires you to input all of your information in an exact format, otherwise it may send out an error notice or not direct you to the membership payment page - we are working on this issue, so that the registration and payment process will be much more user friendly. Make sure to fill out your name on the form in this format: Last Name, First Name (include the comma between last and first) and keep your bio short (less than 150).

When I registered and became an Associate member, I uploaded an image of my work to my listing in the registration area. Why doesn't my image appear next to my name and website listing on the Associate Directory?
Currently, that feature is only available to Master Signature & Signature members. Images in Associate member accounts are not activated to show up on the Associate Members Directory.

What are acceptible mediums for membership? for juried and member shows? How about photography or abstract art?
Some mediums and genres are not accepted in our annual member shows and national juried exhibitions at fine art museums and galleries as per our prospectus and show guidelines (ie. Work must be representational, no photography, craft, jewelry, fiber and textile art, collage, any sort of digitally derived work,reproduction of any kind). 

However, acceptible mediums for membership and our online juried shows are a bit more open. We have several members who work in a wider variety of mediums, such as assemblage, batik, mosaic and printmaking; our online juried show prospectus lists a larger list of acceptible mediums for entry eligibility. If you wish to join AWA to be affiliated with this growing group of artists, your name and website url will be listed on our Associate membership directory, as a benefit of membership. We also have plans in the works for online shows that would showcase a wider variety of mediums, in the coming years.

As AWA continues to evolve and grow, we will explore more inclusive and active acceptance of other mediums.
