The Latest from American Women Artists

Carrie Waller Abundance

Congratulations to AWA Master Member Carol Swinney whose painting Big Sky Country was one two purchase awards for the permanent collection of the Cheyenne Frontier Days Old West Museum in Cheyenne, Wyoming. The paintings were selected from the 2019 Cheyenne Frontier Days Western Art Show & Sale. Carol’s 24” x 36” oil painting was purchased by the Racicky family in memory of their father, Bud Racicky, one of the founding members of the Old West Museum and a member of the museum’s Hall of Fame.

American Women Artists’ 25 in 25 campaign has two goals: to increase the number of museum exhibition opportunities for women artists and to increase the number of works by women artists purchased for a museum’s permanent collection.  We are thrilled that Big Sky Country will reside permanently in the Cheyenne Frontier Days Old West Museum’s collection and be on display in the museum much of the year.
